Caroline Sykes - biography

portraits landscapes and seascapes

Caroline studied in London at St. Martin’s School of Art and then at Goldsmith’s college where she specialised in graphic design. Caroline has painted all her life – even at the age of 3 it was her favourite occupation.
After working as a graphic designer for several years, she started painting full time whilst designing and building a large house in Devon with her first husband. Since then Caroline has exhibited her oils, watercolours and original prints worldwide, including the Royal Academy and the Mall Galleries.
Caroline has produced many landscapes, seascapes, house, people and animal portraits, as well as a variety of copies including several Monets and Van Goghs.
Caroline is a member of the Chelsea Arts Club, ..” a wonderfully impressive place to take potential clients as there’s usually a celebrity or two, plus it has an exciting, old-fashioned, grand, slightly decadent atmosphere as well as the best food in London!”

Caroline has lived in Devon and Somerset as well as in London. Her affinity and great love of the countryside can be seen in her many landscapes and seascapes.
She has now become one of London's foremost portrait painters.
She has been married twice , had 3 children, and now lives happily in her garden flat in Chelsea and visits her many friends in the countryside.
Caroline is descended from a string of artists and writers on both sides of her family, the most famous being William Somerset Maugham.
