Commissioning a portrait
I usually work in oil, acrylic or pencil. I find it essential to establish
some kind of rapport between myself and my subject.
This is often a very enjoyable experience as I find people and their differences and oddities very fascinating!
I really believe a portrait will always benefit from the special closeness and understanding
that can develope between artist and sitter.
I can however work from photographs in order to save busy people
from lengthy sittings...but I must take these myself...masses of them....whilst spending time getting to know the person.
I try to paint close to actual real -life-size as I think this produces the best results.
